Bener Meriah, Bener Meriah, Aceh Tengah · 1,300–1,700 masl · Harvest Oct 2026 - May 2027
Grown on smallholder plots around Takengon, in the Gayo highlands of Central Aceh, at 1,200–1,600 metres above sea level on volcanic soil beside Lake Laut Tawar. The lake moderates the day-to-night temperature swing, so the cherry ripens evenly rather than in bursts.
Unlike most Sumatran coffee, this lot is fully washed rather than wet-hulled. Cherry is selectively hand-picked red, pulped the same day, fermented under water, washed clean, then dried in the parchment on raised beds to 10–12% moisture. The result is a markedly cleaner cup than the wet-hulled Sumatra profile buyers expect from this origin — the acidity stays alive and the farm character is not masked by the process.
Cupped at 85+ and graded G1. Lots are kept separate by collection point rather than blended at the warehouse, so we can tell you which villages a container came from.
Harvest runs October to January, with a smaller fly crop around April to June. Samples of 300 g are sent free of charge; we only ask that you tell us how you intend to roast it, so we send the lot that is actually worth your time.
